 I've gotten a request from Fred Patten. He needs to contact Bill Keiffer. Can anyone help? Anyone have a current email address for him? Or know what's happened?

Subject: Request for reprint permission for "The Good Sport"

Dear Chris;

I am editing a reprint anthology of the Ursa Major Award short fiction winners and some finalists, titled The Ursa Major Awards Sampler, to be published by FurPlanet Publications of Dallas, Texas in a trade paperback edition. This will be in the style of the Hugo Winners and Nebula Winners anthologies, with one important difference. As you probably know, the Ursa Major short fiction award was won by five different authors from 2001 to 2005, but the award from 2006 to 2010 has gone to Kyell Gold. We feel that five stories by Mr. Gold would be too much, so we plan to ask Mr. Gold for two stories and to fill the rest of the book with runners-up from the ten years of the award.

We would like to include Bill Kieffer's story "The Good Sport", from the Metamor Keep website, which was a finalist for the Ursa Major Award in 2001.

Unfortunately, Bill Kieffer seems to have disappeared. His contact information on the Metamor Keep website is no longer valid. How can we get permission to reprint this story when the author has disappeared? Do you have a current address for him?

FurPlanet offers an upfront payment of $25.00. The author will also receive a contributor's copy of the book, and will be able to buy additional copies at a 30% discount.

You may contact FuzzWolf or Teiran at FurPlanet Publications, 5161 Verde Valley Lane, apt. 2207, Dallas, TX 75254, or fuzzwolf at furplanet.com and Teiran at prodigy.net, to verify this or to discuss any details of the planned book. I may be contacted by e.mail at fredpatten at earthlink.net, though if you want a mailing address, it is Fred Patten, c/o Sherrill Patten (my sister), 11113 Moorpark Street, apt. 105, North Hollywood, CA 91602.

Best wishes;

Fred Patten
