<div dir="ltr"><div>Hmm… *looks at costs*</div><div><br></div><div>It's a 14 hour drive there and 14 back including two stops for gas and food both ways. I've done worse before, but I wasn't the one paying for gas. With current prices, that'd work out to be about $165 for gas alone. Factor in registration, hotel, food, and parking, and it'd cost me approximately $450 assuming I could find three other people to share a hotel room with. That's unfortunately way too expensive for me. </div><div><br></div><div>Just 'cause I'm curious; other travel options include…</div><div><br></div><div>Plane:</div><div>It'd cost $360, but round trip travel time would be less than six hours total. If I factor in the savings on parking, it'd be worth it to fly unless I value my time at less than $6.60 an hour. In addition, I could spend one less day at the hotel, for additional savings. </div><div><br></div><div>Train:</div><div>24 hours there and 26 hours back, for a round trip travel time of 2 days and 2 hours (plus 2-and-a-half hours round trip from Chicago to Rosemont). That'd cost me $338, or almost as much as flying, but it'd take nine times as long. To be worth the $22 savings, I'd have to value my time at less than $0.42 an hour. </div><div><br></div><div>Bus:</div><div>Round trip travel time: 2 days 11 hours; cost: $428. That's six-and-a-half hours more than the train and $90 more expensive, or 31 hours longer than driving and just $22 shy of the estimated cost of the entire trip by that method. </div><div><br></div><div>Note 1: I used prices for the weekend after for the train and bus as I would have had to have already left to make it using those methods. By scheduling even further in advance, it looks like I could save $100 by plane, $150 by bus, and $0 dollars by train, so the bus would be $60 cheaper than the train, but the plane would still be $18 cheaper than the bus and ten times faster. $100 off air fair for booking in advance plus $50 saved on parking plus a potential $36 saved on a shared hotel room plus 22 hours saved on travel time makes flying the best option by far. </div><div><br></div><div>Note 2: Word doesn't like the contractions I'd've'd to've. </div><div><br></div><div>-AlexSurikat</div><div><br></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Thu, Dec 4, 2014 at 4:23 PM, C.
