The countermagics are as active as the curse is and working against it every step of the way which slows it down considerably. It does not start manifesting until it reaches a maximum energy state.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1441850313383_6084" dir="ltr">Mages are no more swift in being caught than normals, just to point out, as the magic that they use is not associated with the subtle trickle that the curse is seeping into them.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1441850313383_9671" dir="ltr">And the curses were keyed specifically to 'human', so any amount of non-human (kitsune, elf, ect ect) will slow it down even further or prevent it taking hold at all (I would hazard to say that more than 1/20th non-human stock would thwart the curse entirely).
