If they're of Metamor (Keeptowne, most likely, or perhaps Euper - which would explain why they've not been previously mentioned) they could be common in the many inns & keeps. That would certainly lessen the demand for Malger.

There is a semi-organized group of non-bardic performers, though not exactly a troupe, per say, whom Malger is familiar with. They gather at a special place deep in the Warrens of Euper (so called because they're run down, packed close, and the streets - more properly, alleys - that run through them are twisting and labyrinthine) called the "Blue Note" - as mentioned in "Dream's Aria: Light Meets Caroline". None of the performers have Bardic talents and do not make magic with their music. They're merely hobbyist performers. This is where Egland was introduced to Intoran.

Other groups, troupes, bands, and hobbyists are probably a commonplace things in both Keeptowne and Euper, as well as any other relatively large township of the Duchy - both within the curse and without (though fewer animal morphs further away). Your characters can come from pretty much anywhere with little issue.

One of them is very likely a True Bard, of some modest skill. The others perhaps have the ability to some degree. When they're performing together it manifests, which would make them *extremely* popular; so much so that if they've some worthwhile skill they could be invited to perform for the Duke. Malger would approve, as he can no longer fill that roll as Archduke - unless he wishes to, for whatever reason. None will gainsay him, of course.

But, as stated, he's not at Metamor at this time - which would further prompt Thomas to look for other performers whenever he hosts a banquet or other function - formal or informal.

Nothing, as of yet, has been said of Bryn Hassan's conception or birth anywhere outside of Divine Travails of Rats. I've only recently added it to the timeline in the Wiki (which no one but Rimme seems to frequent, of late. No one says enough about the amazing work he's done there.)
