Ah, I had not realized he was suddenly able to teleport her because she had
died (though I did of course realize the learning to teleport wasn't the
point of the story). I did however figure out that his exit point depended
entirely upon Kyia based on what he said before teleporting. Anyway like I
said, the whole issue of just what the rules are for teleporting are are
rather vague. There seem to be all sorts of criss-crossing and
inter-contradictory rules on it.
