I understand your feelings on the subject but sometimes we just have to let
it slide and accept some things.

 

I have the image of some poor character in a story standing in the unending
hall  screaming "where's the damn bathroom!"

Okay.  How can I argue with magic is sufficient to overcome pragmatism
flaws?  

 

"I built my house in one straight line of rooms 500 feet long!" 

 

"but you put the bathroom at one end, now you might have to walk 500 feet to
the bathroom"

 

"No worries, its a magical house!  The bathroom is only steps away when I
need it!" 

 

"but its 500 feet away when its your turn to clean it, I'm sure"
