The Visitor

Upon our church’s doorway did the little beraggled thing appear
A child not more of sixteen or seventeen of age, we fear
Desiring to be fed with Heavenly manna from up above
Desiring to know and experience God’s great and unconditional love
Upon the church doors she did enter
Hoping to be blessed, this repentative sinner
The King’s children she wanted to greet
But no one in that holy sanctuary would to her a kind word speak
A snarl, an upturned lip did she find
Not a word was spoken to her in kind
Could it be that Satan did whisper into these judging hearts
to make this soul-searching lamb to depart?
>From lowliness and shamefulness did she quickly leave
To find that God’s people didn’t care for her need
Not affording a fancy dress or nice fancy shoes
Her faith in God did she then not choose
Rushing out, she didn’t see that speeding car
Her poor, lifeless body wasn’t thrown very far
Today Satan was clearly the winner
all because God’s children cared not for this poorly-dressed repentative
sinner.
