I know ALL about that. It's part of the theme of these thing. If somebody=
had a character go out and kill 100 Lutin, everybody would cheer. Yet, Lu=
tin are civilized (somewhat) intellegent sophants (tool using sentients) th=
at are doing a bad thing.
Somebody goes and kills 20-30 evil cultists. Everybody is horrified. Yet,=
cultists are civlized intelligent sophants that are doing a VERY bad thing.
Why the difference?
Michael Bard
I don't have a big problem with some... or yet another, should I co=
rrect... group without a reason to be doing what they're doing to be doing =
whatever it is that is going to get them slaughtered, badly, by whatever it=
is they're attempting to mess with.
I *do* have problems, however, with rampant murder and mayhem being=
wrought within the population centers of Metamor... i.e. the keep itself, =
keeptown, Euper, whatever. With someone wandering about as judge, jury, an=
d executioner that makes no attempt to communicate their discoveries with a=
ny of the existing authority figures and bring these events to the attentio=
n of people who might, you know, be just slightly concerned that some yahoo=
s are attempting to raise things bottled away by *gods* right underneath th=
eir feet??
And then said individual not being, hmmm, executed for murdering fo=
lks in their beds, or out in the street, or even hidden away in the woods? =
These are not folk, I assume, involved in the act of trying to raise some =
beastie at the moment of their unheralded, unjustified, untried execution? =
Yes, they might very well be guilty of everything they're being slaughtere=
d for, but without bringing those suspicions to authority figures and takin=
g justice into one's hands is a sure way to be labeled a criminal and arres=
ted, tried, then executed for capital murder.
Authority figures do NOT like vigilantes, period.
In total, I don't care about the summoning or the reasons for the o=
dd little cult making the attempt, it's just the murders & justice that are=
an issue. If you want to kill 'em, kill 'em doing what they're going to d=
ie for, not while they're in their beds if you expect to slip away without =
having some investigator, or mage, crawling up out of the woodwork at an in=
opportune time to haul you away in chains... or kill you.
And then there are the odd powers of the unicorn involved... immort=
ality/longevity, regeneration, et al? I'm afraid I don't know the extent o=
f her powers/abilities, so don't have much comment there... except for the =
fact that her prison time might be, well, somewhat lengthy. Forever is a l=
ong time to spend in a dungeon.

I've been using the term "Cthulhu" just for the evocative imagery
of what
I'm going for. Last fall I went through the master plan ON THIS LIST. It
is *NOT* Cthulhu. It is one of the Titans, stark raving mad, and imprisoned
below the keep many many moons ago. Raven, at least, though it was a great
idea. Nobody else raised a finger against it.
So, is this still fine, or has the opinion of the Metamor Collective changed
(again)?
