I can think of ways that most of those things could be covered. For instance:

I am unsure if the machinations that would lead up to the war presaging the Starfall arc are still in place. Lilith has been effectively removed from the war by Carcarac and other forces, but the two armies [that were to be] raised by southern kingdoms are still an unknown.
Really, if they are still in place, I just figure they'd probably
throw their lot in with the northern rabble-rousers, perhaps take it
over after a while. Initially at least I didn't intend for the prime
mover in the to be very powerful. If he had been, he probably would
do something more than pull strings. If there are more powerful
players to the south, then they would likely just roll with it and use
the tensions to further their agenda.

The ONLY thing that prevents Metamor from being overrun outright is the Curse, but with enough impressed labor (read: convicts & slaves) an unscrupulous duke or even moneyed baron could lay siege to Metamor from the south.
Indeed. If this storyline took shape as I proposed, the Mithril would
be another factor in the long lines of intrigue produced, so it could
be quite compatible with my proposition.

The issue in play for figuring out whether or not it had expanded
would be that Metamor would trust Muri. Anyone involved with the
opposition would be quite reluctant to trust a Keeper, and they
already have it on their own mage's authority that the effect is
identical to the Curse.
As for people's storylines, I'm fully aware that a lot of people would
have to Ok the idea for it to go too far. If people had other ideas,
though, it could at least be used to produce some intrigue for those
who would like some.
